UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES IN A FLEETING WORLD: THE EXISTENTIAL DIMENSION OF THE PROBLEM

Relevance and purpose. This study aims to analyze the particularities of the relationship between rapid changes in the information society and the transformation of universal human values. Methodology. Due the analysis of the approaches of representatives of classical existentialism and existential psychology, the author proves the need to rethink the value heritage of Christianity. Attention is focused on the importance of turning to the existential dialectics and axiology of S. Kierkegaard, in particular to his interpretation of existence in the context of the ontological integrity of a person. Results. It is concluded that the interconnection, interpenetration of the psycho-emotional and spiritual components of existence for the preservation of the inner world of a person and his or her spirituality is decisive in the conditions of a permanent value crisis. Conclusions. The author justifies that existential-theological axiology remains relevant and in demand in our time, because it can help us both to determine and obtain at least some variant of spirituality on the path of self-realization in our cultural situation, in particular, it can increase the scope of understanding of many ambiguous aspects of our modern consciousness. It is emphasized that S. Kierkegaard’s desire to modernize Christianity returns us to the understanding of religion as a prerequisite for existential ethics, capable of preventing a global ontological catastrophe and the destruction of human existence itself.
